In a distant land where geeks rule

Hat tip: Wilson Tan

I Am A: Neutral-Good, Gnome, Mage/Bard

Alignment:
Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered 'normal'.

Race:
Gnomes are also short, like dwarves, but much skinnier. They have no beards, and are very inclined towards technology, although they have been known to dabble in magic, too. They tend to be fun-loving and fond of jokes and humor. Some gnomes live underground, and some live in cities and villages. They are very tolerant of other races, and are generally well-liked, though occasionally considered frivolous.

Primary Class:
Mages harness the magical energies for their own use. Spells, spell books, and long hours in the library are their loves. While often not physically strong, their mental talents can make up for this.

Secondary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Deity:
Mystra is the Neutral Good goddess of magic. She is also known as the Lady of Mysteries. Followers of Mystra wear armor and carry shields with her symbol on them. Mystra's symbol is a ring of stars.

Neutral Good characters believe in the power of good above all else. They will work to make the world a better place, and will do whatever is necessary to bring that about, whether it goes for or against whatever is considered 'normal'.

Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Thieves are the most roguish of the classes. They are sneaky and nimble-fingered, and have skills with traps and locks. While not all use these skills for burglary, that is a common occupation of this class.

I did it as a laugh, but this seems to actually be a really good model of character, if you understand the D&D rules that it is based on.

They fit all of you.

Frank is highly principled and believes that wrongs should be righted, but he is not anarchistic, so he would be lawful-GOOD.

Josh is self-assured and holds strongly to his own moral compass. Josh feels comfortable with heirarchies and structure, so he would be LAWFUL-good (lawful is a technical term, referring to order rather than good/bad, thats where the second part comes in).

Charlotte, like me, is a bit more in the middle with respect to order and heirarchies. We are fluid in achieving our goals, but we both follow a strong internal sense of right and wrong. That fits with Neutral-Good!

Charlotte and Frank are elves, because they obviously look at the bigger picture. Charlotte is always thinking about the future, or helping people around her by looking at the really long term issues. Frank is the same, not just sitting in the moment but acting with a fair amount of vision.

Josh is human, that's pretty straight forward. Energetic, passionate, and fast-moving.

Josh and Frank's characters are both followers of the Justice deity because, obviously, justice is a core value that both of them hold to in life, their opinions, and their dealings with people.

Frank is a monk because he is peaceful, prayerful and giving. Josh is a paladin because he also acts in faith, though he isn't afraid of controntation and battle (symbolically and literally).

Charlotte is a thief because they divide their time between being resourceful (in achieving ends) and being charismatic (in manipulating or understanding people). While I could have used a more PC term than 'manipulating', you get my drift. I think that fits her well enough.

Gosh, that was interesting.
I think if you know me that well you'll also agree that my own character description totally hit it on the head for me.

I had always believed that D&D was a good psychological insight into people since, in a player-driven game, what happens is based on the psyche of those playing. Its fun to see how insightful a silly little test can be with the right game-knowledge.

I'd be keen to see more results, if anyone else cares ;)

I am a Lawful Good Elf Ranger Bard, Follower Of Mielikki, and I haven't the foggiest idea what that means.

Iain said...

Aww, go on Sharyn, you know you want to!

Paul, that's good too. You're definately LG, since you work well within, and understand political and social structures. You're also quite moral.

You're an elf because you see the big picture, spending lots of time thinking about and studying how processes affect people and not just discrete moments.

You're a ranger because you enjoy nature, and also - i would say - the questions picked up that you aren't afraid of spending time outdoors among creation or even just by yourself.

Bard is there because you think about how to please people, and can be a fun person to have around.

It put Mielikki as your deity because, i guess, you - like a good ranger does - orientate yourself to protecting others AND the earth. That is, you don't pit the value of people over the rest of creation, but neither do you devalue people's place in the world.

Hahaha, this is classic. Who would have thought this survey would be such a flexible descriptor of people.

As Paul noted, the results might be confusing.

So, the list of all possible character results, and descriptions, is here.

For simplicity, I'll edit this into the original post, too.

As geeky as we are, It takes a true Paladin to admit geekiness. As this is one of my qualities i am compelled to recognise my positives.

Sharyn said...

Okay fine.

Lawful Good Elf Bard Mage
Follower Of Oghma

Iain said...

Okay, so that tells me...

You're very moral, you value structure & organisation. You're a bit of a deep thinker, at least concerning social issues and life. You're probably not very impetuous.

You're the same as me in class except flipped, so that means that you think about other people etc and know how to entertain. And of course the other bit which is that you are scholastically minded and probably prefer your brains over your brawn.

And of course, your character following Oghma means that knowledge is a cornerstone of your life.

I could have said all that already :P

thanks for the hat-tip! first time i heard of that. You have quite a wonderful site yourself, eh? It's always great to meet new friends on the net, especially when they are from faraway land. I have never been to NZ but am a fan of the All Blacks as i used to play rugby back in school.
